Pride of Houston Yaupon Holly is a dense upright evergreen shrub with small oval dark green foliage with coarsely serrated margins.  Its display of creamy white spring flowers are attractive but the main draw is the large clusters of bright red berries that cling to the branches from fall through winter.  Best planted in moist, slightly acidic well-drained soils.  Hollies are dioecious and need both male and female plants to produce fruit.  Very heat and drought tolerant once established.  Pride of Houston is a female cultivar.
