Magic Fountain Weeping Persimmon is an small attractive native deciduous tree with a cascading crown primarily grown for its edible fall fruit crops. The glossy rich green foliage turns yellow and orange in fall. The fragrant creamy bell-shaped flowers bloom in spring. Its large edible fruits are astringent until ripened to golden yellow and has a rich, sweet flavor with a hint of honey when ripe. Grows best in full sun and rich, moist well-drained soils. Magic Fountain is self-pollinating and have excellent disease resistance.
Diospyros virginiana is a host plant for several moths, including the Sculptured Moth and Tersa Sphinx Moth, Royal Walnut Moth, and Luna Moth. The fruits are browsed by various wildlife.
